Senior producer of Kannada cinema C Jayaram passed away at around 2 a.m on September 9 due to age related complications. The family held the last rites at the Sumanahalli cemetary at 12 noon yesterday.
Father of renowned filmmaker Prakash of Milana, veteran producer C Jayaram has produced some superhit films, especially, in the 1970s and 80s. Among them is the the 1976 movie Pavana Ganga, starring Srinath and Aarathi in pivotal roles. His 1982 film Auto Raja which featured actor Shankar Nag in the lead role remains a cult classic. Other films of the deceased producer include Galaate Samsara and Naa Ninna Bidalare, both of which casted Sankalpa actor Anant Nag.
C Jayaram’s journey:
Producer Jayaram later returned to the film industry in 2000s after over a decade to launch his Prakash as a director. Prakash debuted in the Kannada film industry as a director and script-writer with movie Khushi featuring Thalapathy Vijay in the lead role. Filmmaker Prakash is popularly known as Milana Prakash after his Kannada blockbuster romantic drama Milana, which is considered the most successful project of his career till date. He is now one of the noted filmmakers in the Kannada film industry and directed hit movie Taarak featuring Darshan.
Several members of the film industry has called on the deceased producer’s family to express their condolences and paid their tribute to him for his incomparable works in the film industry.
C Jayaram’s son Milana Prakash is now set to collaborate with Darshan again for an upcoming political action drama which he had announced prior to the Covid-19 pandemic.
