Mohanlal signs next project with Shaji Kailas after 12 years

Mollywood superstar Mohanlal took to Twitter on Tuesday, September 8 to announce his next project with filmmaker Shaji Kailas.

Shaji Kailas, who is known for his unapologetic, out-and-out masala entertainers has directed Mohanlal in several films, including popular movies such as Aaram, Thamburan, Narasimham, Baba Kalyani and Ali Bhai, among others.

The actor-director duo is collaborating again 12 years after 2009 Malayalam film Red Chillies.

Sharing the announcement with his fans, Mohanlal wrote: “It’s with great excitement and happiness that I announce my next project with #ShajiKailas which starts rolling in Oct 2021. This film scripted by Rajesh Jayram and produced by @antonypbvr under the banner of @aashirvadcine has me and Shaji getting together after 12 long years (sic).”

The upcoming movie will be bankrolled by producer Antony Perumbavoor under the banner of Aashirvad Cinemas and Rajesh Jayram is the scriptwriter.

The rest of the cast and technical crew hasn’t been finalised yet and the shooting for the yet-to-be titled film is set to begin in the month of October.

The actor also recently announced to his fans that the team has wrapped up shooting for Bro Daddy. He also extended his gratitude to the cast and crew. “Done! #2ndDirectorial! It’s been such a joy to watch him have so much fun in front of the camera!  Thank you cheta @mohanlal, #AnthonyPerumbavoor for having so much faith and conviction in me, thanks to a fantastic cast, and a superb crew! #BroDaddy.” Reports say he is also working on his directorial debut Barroz and director Jeethu Joseph’s 12th Man. 

Mohanlal is also awaiting the release of Priyadarshan’s directorial Marakkar: Arabikadalinte Simham and Mohanlal’s Aaraattu directed by B Unnikrishnan, which is getting ready to hit the screens soon.
