Comali director Pradeep Ranganathan is now set to try his hand at acting. Though the upcoming movie tentatively titled AGS will feature Pradeep as a hero for the first time, the director isn’t new to acting and has already played the lead roles in some of his short films.
“If I have directed four shorts, I acted as the lead in three of them. I have always been passionate about cinema and want to explore all the fields, including acting, direction and editing. One of my shorts was appreciated by Jayam Ravi and that was how I made my debut as a director. A film like Comali required a big star and we got Ravi sir on board. But this film is catered more to youngsters. While my debut film spoke about the 90s kids, this film will cater to both 90s and 2k kids. The film is about a normal guy and I felt someone like me will be apt for the script,” says Pradeep.
The director as well as lead actor of the forthcoming film also revealed that pre-production work for the movie has begun and shooting will commence on December. “It will be a youth entertainer and will be in the Comali space. There will be a positive message in the film. If Comali touched upon humanity, in this film, we talk about trust,” Pradeep added.
After listening to a lot of scripts locked our next projectSuper happy to introduce @pradeeponelife as hero under our banner @Ags_production for a kickass script written and directed by him 😊 #Ags22 #KalpathiAghoram #KalpathiGanesh #KalpathiSuresh @aishkalpathi @venkatmanickam5 pic.twitter.com/H0EYrSxWY1— Archana Kalpathi (@archanakalpathi) October 4, 2021
Reports state that the team is currently in talks with Sathyaraj and Yogi Babu but the rest of the cast and crew hasn’t been finalized yet. “Since this film is about a bunch of next-door-guys, there will be no special look for me. This story is not about a hero, but someone you know,” says director Pradeep Ranganathan.
“As for acting, I am more excited than nervous. I will definitely have to put in a lot of work, but I know I will enjoy the process,” Pradeep signs off.
