Mahima Nambiar in Magamuni
Santhakumar directorial Magamuni has been accredited with an array of awards so far. Not only has the movie made its way to international film festivals, but also its cast has been bagging a lot of awards worldwide.
Mahima Nambiar, the female lead in Magamuni, recently added another feather to the cap by winning Special Jury Award- Outstanding Performance – Award for Best Supporting Actress for the 2019 Tamil film ‘Magamuni’ at the Toronto Tamil International Film Festival 2021. A few weeks ago, Mahima also bagged the Best Supporting Actress award at the International Film festival Madrid IIF 2021.
The actress is enthralled about her new accolade and took to Twitter to express her gratitude towards the filmmaker.
The post read, “Thank you @Santhakumar_Dir for believing in me and giving me the confidence to dub for myself ‘Toronto Tamil International Film festival’, Canada. Special Jury Award for Outstanding Performance for “Best Supporting Actress #magamuni (sic).”
The 2019 crime drama featured Arya, Indhuja Ravichandran and Mahima Nambiar in lead roles. Kaali Venkat, Rohini, Jayaprakash, Ilavarasu and Aruldoss were featured in supporting roles.
Arya played dual roles (Magadevan and Muniraj) in Magamuni while Mahima Nambiar’s character Deepa was a journalism student and the daughter of a local landlord named Jayaram (played by Jayaprakash).
Director Santhakumar won the Jury Award for the Best Feature Film Director for the Arya and Mahima starrer.
Coming back to the work front, Mahima now has multiple Tamil projects in her kitty, like ‘Ayngaran‘ and ‘Oh My Dog‘. In ‘Ayngaran’, the actress is playing the lead opposite GV Prakash.
