After Chennaiyil Oru Naal 2 and Myna, R. Sarathkumar and Suhasini Maniratnam are set to team up once again for an upcoming social drama. The upcoming movie will also mark the directorial debut of former editor Thirumalai Baluchamy.
According to the director, the story of the film will revolve around water crises. “The film is set in an arid place, where people battle water shortage. I come from Ramanathapuram and I’ve faced such difficulties. We’ve faced so many issues that even Kollywood hasn’t shown yet. So, I am including those things that people haven’t seen before. While Sarath Kumar sir plays the lead role as someone who returns to his hometown from a foreign country, Suhasini ma’am plays his wife”, the former editor turned director says.
On casting Sarathkumar and Suhasini in lead roles, newbie filmmaker shares, “When I wrote the script, I felt only Sarath sir and Suhasini ma’am could pull off these roles. Both of them have travelled across Tamil Nadu and have wide knowledge about various cultures, too. Their roles are challenging as well.”
The forthcoming Tamil social drama will also feature Nandhaa of Thorati fame, newbie Ashwathi, Singam Puli, and Ganja Karuppu in pivotal roles.
Director Thirupathy adds that “The film will shuttle between the 90s and current timeline. We will begin the shoot in the first week of October, in Ramanathapuram”.
