Sekhar Kammula is undoubtedly one of the most talented Tollywood directors of this age. His directorials are unique as they are based on sensitive topics like family problems and emotions, something not many directors do not want to work on. From his debut ‘Dollar Dreams‘ to ‘Fidaa‘, he always makes sure that he leaves his mark in the story he directs and this trait has made him stand out from other filmmakers in Tollywood.
His 2017 directorial Fidaa which is a Telugu romantic comedy starring Varun Tej and Sai Pallavi and marking the Telugu debut of the latter, was immensely praised because of its vivid reflection of Telengana culture. Sekhar’s upcoming directorial Love Story is expected to also be based on Telengana background. Love Story is scheduled to hit the screens on 24th September this year.
Recent reports state that the veteran director has plans to make three huge films in a row with young south actors. After Love Story, Sekhar is reportedly working with Tamil playback singer and actor Dhanush for a multilingual project. Puskar Rammohan Rao is going to produce the movie that will commence its shoot soon and is expected to be a thriller. The pre-production work of the Dhanush starrer has reportedly begun, the other cast and crew details will be official announced later. Some of his colleagues have reportedly warned him to be careful with the genre (as the director has not directed many thrillers in the past) as he is risking his career with a new genre but Sekhar seems to be really confident about the project.
Sekhar Kammula is also expected to announce an update on the sequel of leader where he is likely to feature Rana Duggabati.
Meanwhile, in one of his recent interviews the director said he wants to do one more film with Naga Chaitanya after ‘Leader 2’. In the sequel of leader, Rana Duggabati and Naga Chaitanya are likely to be paired up by the sensible director for the second time.
